Gorilla Tracking

Gorilla Tracking is the highlight of all visits done in Uganda. The National Parks containing the Gorillas are in the border regions of Uganda, Rwanda and The Democratic Republic of Congo and holl around 50% of the worlds remaining wild Mountain Gorilla population.

Getting up close with these rare Great Apes is an experience like no other. The famous American zoologist George Schaller, one of the first people to study gorillas in the wild, once said: “No one who looks into the eyes of a Gorilla, gentle and vulnerable, can remain unchanged”.

Due to the nature of the habitat of these great creatures, visiting them requires a certain level of fitness. You can expect to walk for between 2-8 hours in steep and sometimes muddy terrain. The thrill of finally seeing these fascinating animals is well worth it though.
