BEST TIME TO VISIT
WELCOME TO Zanzibar
Zanzibar provides the perfect tropical ending to a safari expedition, with idyllic white-sandy beaches, interesting culture and an incredible history.
Zanzibar is a Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of East Africa, consisting of the main island Zanzibar, known locally as Unguja, Pemba Island and many smaller islands.
Zanzibar’s capital, Stone Town, is a historic trade centre with Swahili and Islamic influences. For a cultural experience meander its winding lanes and discover the carved doorways, minarets and the House of Wonders, a former sultan’s palace. Enjoy the local atmosphere while wandering the markets for a keepsake or two.
The islands beaches boast soft white sand, the more popular northern beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa are lined with hotels, while beaches in the far south are popular for diving.
For wildlife experiences visit the Jozani Forest, here you’ll see Red Colobus Monkeys, Bushbabies and exotic butterflies and birds; and the the Menai Bay Conservation Area, a sea turtle protection area and ideal location for guided boat tours to spot both bottlenose and humpback dolphins.
