Virunga National Park
The Virunga National Park is located near the city of Goma, in the eastern part of the country, and has an area of 12,000 km². It is a large plain bordered by two mountain ranges that serve as natural containment for the wild animals of the reserve. Where you can see lions, buffalos, antelopes, warthogs, elephants, hippos and a wide variety of waterfowl. It is possible to climb the two volcanic summits of Nyamuragira (3,055 m) and Nyiragongo (3,470 m). The small town of Goma is full of charm; in its hotels and restaurants you will be welcomed in a pleasant way.
Virunga is mostly famous for the Gorilla families, many tourist come over from Rwanda on day trips to hike up to see the gorillas.
