Serengeti National Park
Covering an area of 14,762 square kilometres, which stretches north to Kenya and bordering Lake Victoria to the west, the Serengeti National Park is well known for its abundance of animals and the great wildebeest migration.
The annual migration sees over 1.5 million wildebeest and 250, 000 zebra travel from the Serengeti National Park to the Maasai Mara National Reserve, in search of water and better grazing lands.
The Migration Summary:
December – March: South and possibly Central Serengeti
February: Calving takes place during this month with thousands of calves born within a 2 to 3 week period.
April – June: Central and Western Serengeti
July – October: Northern Serengeti
November: Central Serengeti
There are various activities that can be done in Serengeti such as balloon safaris over the park, luxury and camping safaris, birding safaris, wedding safaris and of course wildlife safaris.
