Ruaha National Park
The Ruaha National Park in on the Southern circuit of Tanzania, covering an area of around 13,000 square kilometres. The Great Ruaha River winds its way through the park and provides the main focus for game viewing.
Travelling to the Ruaha National Park rewards visitors with excellent game viewing, a wild landscape and a quieter safari with fewer tourists than Selous and less than any similar park in the northern circuit.
The best time to visit the Ruaha National Park for game viewing is during the months of June to October, when the wildlife visit the dwindling waterholes and rivers making them easier to spot. There are parts of the park where the game concentrations are good at any time of the year. In particular the birding from December through to March is excellent.
